LIFE

The Unexpected

Around 8 Saturday night I get a phone call…
My grandparents were in a serious car accident…
My grandfather was ok they checked him out at the hospital…
But my grandmother had to be airlifted out…
She was cut in her jugular on her neck and was bleeding to death at the scene of the accident…
A passerby saw the accident and stopped…
He was a doctor…
Nobody knows his name or where he came from…
He sewed her jugular up right there on the street before the ambulance came…
The doctor said that whoever that was saved her life…
She was almost completly out of blood when she arrived at the hospital…
Her right leg and right arm are completly crushed…
Her foot is literally hanging off of her leg…

She is still in ICU in intensive care…
They are going to do surgery tommorow…
She will have to have pins and plates all through her leg and all through her arm…
She will have to learn how to walk again….
But she is going to be capable of doing so it will just be a long hard recovery…

So on Sunday we drove down to Alabama and I got to see her…
She looks better than what I had prepared myself for…
Her neck is literally stapled together and she is covered in blankets so I couldn’t see her legs…
Her arm is completly wrapped up so I couldnt see that but her neck is really swollen and bruised and stapled…
She was very alert…
I gave her a kiss and read her the card we got for her…

I had to head home after seeing her the second time because David has to work today but I am just really glad that I got to see her…
I will try to visit her as much as I can in the months to come because I know they are going to be extremely difficult…
