I’m cross posting my husbands blog from yesterday because its so true. We are so fortunate and my prayers go out to all the families that are dealing with the issues he talks about below:
Some days it’s good just to remind yourself “I am very fortunate to have a job.” Today is one of those days.
Sprint (one of my former employers) announced today that they’re laying off 8,000 people, stopping 401k contributions, no longer offering tuition reimbursement, and freezing salaries. I’m thinking either a buyout or bankruptcy will be in their near future. I don’t wish it on them. I loved working for them and I loved my Sprint service.
Circuit City is going… going… gone.
American Express announced today that their profits fell 79%. Ouch. I’m glad I don’t work at American Express.
That said, I love my job. I feel like I do it well, and have earned some incredible performance-based incentives so far. We have a huge project coming up next month that will be extremely challenging and sometimes unpleasant, but its hard not to look at news like this and feel thankful for what you have.
In other news, our other businesses are doing very well. Angle Marketing (LTD) is growing at a tremendous rate, and our media businesses are also growing. We’re still continuing to build our testimony of financial freedom. We’ve got most of the worst of our debts paid off, and now we’re saving up for our house.
We’ve come a long way over the past 6 months… and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come in 2009!
