Day 6-Be Encouraged

Tonight we had what we call “Total Worship” night at my church here in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Our amazing worship team (including my husband on the electric guitar) leads us in worship for an hour to an hour and a half. Tonights them was “Rain Down” and that’s exactly what God did, He rained down his glory on that room tonight. As I was sitting there I could barely move I could just feel God’s presence so thick in the room. We began to sing the song by Delirious that I have heard so many times before called “Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble” but tonight I heard this song in a whole new way.

So many people are hurting right now. There has been earthquakes and storms all around us. The economy is shaky. People are upset by political things. People are afraid and unsure. When I was listening to the lyrics of this song I could just hear God saying, (and I’m paraphrasing) “I’m doing this right now. It may look scary around you when you feel the mountains tremble don’t be afraid.”

Here are the lyrics to the song, they express this better than I can try to express right now.

DID YOU FEEL THE MOUNTAINS TREMBLE
DELIRIOUS

Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

And we can see that God you’re moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice

Did you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokeness

And here we see that God you’re moving
A time of Jubilee is coming
When young and old return to Jesus
Fling wide your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

When I was listening to this song I was thinking of my many friends that are in Haiti right now ministering to those in need. I was thinking of all our missionaries right now at our church that are in Niger, Africa building churches. I could just see the orphans on the streets of Haiti laughing and dancing and worshiping God. God is moving, He is bringing us together as a church not just my church but churches all over the United States to minister to the earth quake survivors.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I felt really encouraged. Even though there is so much going on that is dark and hard and people are hurting I could just see the end picture and the move that God is doing in our nation. Let the streets resound with singing! Dancers dance upon injustice! Take courage, don’t lose hope! Darkness and hopelessness tremble to the ground! God IS moving! A time of jubilee is coming! Prepare the way for the risen Lord!
